FemmeBalance combines herbal extracts with important nutrients to help support healthy menstruation and provide temporary relief from the symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS).

Indications (as stated by the manufacturer)

• Combination of herbal extracts including peony and cinnamon traditionally used in Chinese medicine (TCM) and Western herbal medicine (WHM) respectively to assist in menstrual irregularities.
• Peony and standardised licorice have been shown to help modulate testosterone levels when used in combination.
• In WHM, dandelion aids the body's natural channels of elimination via its diuretic activities.
• Cinnamon has been used traditionally in WHM to help relieve heavy menstruation.
• Vitamin B6 provides relief from the symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS) such as breast tenderness, fluid retention and mood changes.
• Includes myo-inositol stereoisomer of inositol.

Directions for use

Adults:
Take 1 tablet twice daily or as directed by your healthcare practitioner.

Warnings

• Always read the label and follow the directions for use.
• Stop taking this medication if you experience tingling, burning or numbness and see your healthcare practitioner as soon as possible.
• If you have any pre-existing conditions, are on any medications, always talk to your health professional before use.
• Some products should be ceased at least two weeks before any elective surgery, please confirm with your health professional.
• Vitamin supplements should not replace a balanced diet.
• Prescribing Information:
• FemmeBalance is not recommended for use in pregnancy or lactation.
• Avoid in patients with hypersensitivity/allergy to cinnamon, dandelion or other members of the Asteraceae family.
• Theoretically, cinnamon may have an additive effect when used with hypoglycaemic agents.
• Peony may cause gastric upset.
• Peony may oppose the actions of aromatase inhibitors, avoid this combination.
• Peony may have anticoagulat/antiplatelet effects and therefore may increase the risk of bleeding in people with bleeding disorders or medicated with anticoagulant/antiplatelet medication. Monitor patients closely and avoid using two weeks before surgery.
• Licorice may increase the metabolism of warfarin and decrease its effect.
• Many of the adverse effects attributed to licorice are due to glycyrrhetinic acid at doses above 100-400mg daily. However, those with hypertension, heart problems, kidney problems or using oral contraceptives may be more sensitive.
• Licorice may cause hypertension and hypokalaemia. Avoid using in hypertensive patients or in patients for whom hypokalaemia is a major risk (ie. use of digoxin or diuretics).
• If symptoms persist, talk to your health professional.
