Silicones such as the often-added dimethicone, build up on the hair shaft to make hair limp and lank. It blocks out beneficial attributes of conditioners, treatments and the absorption of colour or dyes. Added botanical oil helps prevent water loss and injects moisture into the scalp and hair. The lipids present in botanical oil increase hair elasticity, volume and shine.
