What makes FreeStyle Libre 2 Sensor different
FreeStyle Libre 2 was the first widely-available CGM in Australia to combine the low cost and easy application of the original flash-glucose Libre with the addition of real-time alarms — meaning users no longer have to scan the sensor to know they're going low or high; the app alerts them automatically. Combined with the 14-day wear time (longer than most competitor sensors) and the NDSS subsidy for type 1 patients, it's the CGM most Australian endocrinologists currently start MDI patients on when introducing continuous monitoring.
Who is it for?
- Adults and children (4+) with type 1 diabetes
- Adults with insulin-treated type 2 diabetes wanting continuous glucose visibility
- Pregnant women with insulin-treated diabetes
- Users starting CGM for the first time, who want the easiest path from MDI to continuous monitoring
What's in the pack
1 × FreeStyle Libre 2 sensor with applicator. Single-use, worn for up to 14 days.
Pharmacist usage tip
Apply the sensor to the back of the upper arm using the supplied applicator. The sensor takes 60 minutes to warm up after activation before showing the first reading. Download the FreeStyle LibreLink app from the App Store or Google Play, then scan the sensor with your phone to activate. Replace the sensor at 14 days. Avoid sites that get repeated rubbing (e.g. shoulder straps).
