Hyalase Ampoules 1500 IU – Box of 5

Hyalase is a sterile hyaluronidase powder for solution used by healthcare professionals to increase the dispersion and absorption of injected fluids and medicines. By temporarily breaking down hyaluronic acid in the extracellular matrix, Hyalase reduces tissue viscosity so that subcutaneous fluids, local anaesthetics and other compatible injectables can spread more readily. Clinically, it’s used as an adjuvant to local infiltration, to facilitate subcutaneous infusions (hypodermoclysis), to aid the management of non-caustic extravasation, and—where clinically indicated—by trained clinicians in aesthetics to dissolve hyaluronic acid dermal fillers. Each box contains 5 ampoules/vials, each with 1500 international units (IU) ready to be reconstituted immediately before use.

Active Ingredients

  • Hyaluronidase 1500 IU per ampoule (powder for solution for injection/infusion).
Excipients: see carton/leaflet. Reconstitution solvent is not included; prepare with a suitable sterile diluent as directed by the product information.

Reasons to Use

  • As an adjuvant to improve the spread and uptake of subcutaneous or intramuscular injections (e.g., local anaesthetics used in infiltration).

  • To facilitate subcutaneous fluid administration (hypodermoclysis) by reducing tissue resistance.

  • To assist the management of non-vesicant extravasation by promoting dispersion of infiltrated solutions, as per local protocols.

  • In qualified hands, to degrade hyaluronic acid dermal fillers when medically indicated (e.g., vascular compromise, overcorrection, asymmetry).

Reasons Not to Use

  • Hypersensitivity to hyaluronidase or any component of the product.

  • Active infection or inflamed/fragile tissue at the intended site of injection.

  • History of anaphylaxis or significant allergies; use only with appropriate precautions.

  • Do not inject intravenously or into areas where enhanced spread could be harmful.

  • Use with caution in patients with conditions where increased systemic absorption of co-administered drugs may be undesirable.

  • Not intended for self-administration; professional assessment, dosing and technique are essential.

Advantages

  • Enhances diffusion of compatible injectates for more predictable local effect.

  • May reduce tissue pressure and discomfort during subcutaneous infusions.

  • Versatile: medical, surgical, and aesthetic applications when used by trained professionals.

  • Unit-dosed ampoules support aseptic preparation at the point of care.

Disadvantages

  • Requires reconstitution and strict aseptic technique.

  • Risk of allergic reactions, including rare anaphylaxis—monitor patients after administration.

  • Can increase systemic absorption of co-administered medicines; interaction awareness is required.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: What does Hyalase do?
A: Hyalase contains hyaluronidase, an enzyme that temporarily reduces the viscosity of the extracellular matrix by hydrolysing hyaluronic acid. This helps injected fluids and certain drugs disperse and absorb more readily.

Q: Who should administer it?
A: Healthcare professionals only. Dosing, dilution and technique depend on the indication and are set by clinical guidelines.

Q: How is it supplied and prepared?
A: As 1500 IU powder in single-dose ampoules/vials. It is reconstituted immediately before use with a suitable sterile diluent according to the product information and local protocol.

Q: Can Hyalase dissolve dermal fillers?
A: Yes—hyaluronic acid fillers can be degraded by hyaluronidase. This must be assessed and performed by an experienced clinician, especially in urgent situations (e.g., vascular compromise).

Q: Are there people who shouldn’t receive it?
A: Those with known hypersensitivity to hyaluronidase, or where the injection site is infected or inflamed, should not receive it. Caution is advised in highly allergic individuals.

Q: What side effects can occur?
A: Potential local reactions (redness, swelling, pain, bruising) and systemic allergic reactions (rash, wheeze, hypotension—rare). Patients should be observed after administration and treated promptly if reactions occur.

Q: Does it interact with other medicines?
A: By increasing tissue permeability, hyaluronidase can alter the rate/extent of absorption of co-administered drugs. Clinicians consider this when planning injections or infusions.

Q: How should it be stored?
A: Keep below the temperature stated on the pack, protected from light and moisture. Use immediately after reconstitution; discard any unused solution according to local requirements.

Q: Is a test dose required?
A: Some clinicians perform a small intradermal test dose in patients with allergy concerns, though this does not exclude all reactions. Follow your facility’s policy.

Q: Can it be used for all extravasations?
A: No. Use is typically limited to non-vesicant or specific agents per institutional protocols. Vesicants and certain drugs require different management.

Q: Is this product animal-derived or recombinant?
A: Source varies by manufacturer and market. Check your pack insert for origin and any related precaution
