About this product
Hyalase Ampoules 1500 IU Box of 5 is a Schedule 4 injectable hyaluronidase used by registered healthcare practitioners as an adjuvant to increase tissue absorption of injected fluids. Supplied in Australia by Sanofi-Aventis Australia Pty Ltd. Use it in accordance with the carton instructions and your healthcare professional's advice.
About the active
Hyaluronidase 1500 IU
Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that catalyses the hydrolysis of hyaluronic acid, a major component of the extracellular matrix. By transiently reducing the viscosity of the interstitial gel, hyaluronidase increases the diffusion of co-administered fluids through tissue spaces.
The pharmaceutical product is a defined-potency lyophilised powder reconstituted prior to injection. Each ampoule provides 1500 IU of hyaluronidase activity.
Indicated as an adjuvant to enhance dispersion and absorption of injected fluids (subcutaneous fluid administration — hypodermoclysis); as an adjuvant in subcutaneous urography to improve absorption of contrast media; as an adjuvant in ophthalmology with local anaesthetics in eye surgery; and in the management of selected extravasation events. Use is restricted to administration by a registered healthcare practitioner.
Safety: Schedule 4 (Prescription Only). Contraindicated in known hypersensitivity to hyaluronidase or bee venom. Not to be applied directly to infected or acutely inflamed areas, or used to reduce the swelling of bites and stings, unless directed by a specialist. Anaphylactic reactions have been reported rarely — appropriate resuscitation facilities must be available.
