What makes StrataXRT Gel different
StrataXRT is the only film-forming silicone gel in this category that has published Australian and international clinical evidence specifically in radiation dermatitis — not just generic scar management. It is steroid-free, so it can be used by patients who can't tolerate or aren't candidates for topical corticosteroids during radiotherapy. The self-drying film is also unique — most silicone gels stay tacky on the skin, but StrataXRT dries in four to five minutes to a flexible, water-resistant layer that doesn't transfer to clothing.
Who is it for?
- Patients undergoing radiotherapy for head-and-neck, breast, or skin cancer — for prevention and management of radiation dermatitis
- Patients with new surgical scars seeking to optimise scar maturation
- Patients with existing keloid or hypertrophic scars seeking flattening and colour normalisation
- Patients who cannot tolerate topical corticosteroids during cancer treatment

Pharmacist usage tip
Wash and dry the treatment area. Apply a very thin layer (a thicker layer doesn't work better — it just doesn't dry properly) and allow 4 to 5 minutes to air-dry. Once dry, the field is fine to dress, expose to sunlight (with sunscreen), or have radiotherapy applied over. Use once or twice daily during radiotherapy, and continue for 2 to 6 weeks after the final fraction or as directed by your radiation oncology team.
About the active
Polysiloxanes (Self-Drying Silicone Film)
StrataXRT is a transparent, self-drying silicone gel composed of medical-grade polysiloxanes and silicon dioxide. Once applied to intact skin, the gel dries within four to five minutes to form a thin, flexible, breathable, semi-occlusive film that adheres to the stratum corneum.
The film provides a hydrating barrier that supports the skin's natural recovery during and after radiotherapy, and supports the maturation and appearance of new and existing scars by mimicking the barrier function of healthy skin.
Intended for the prevention and management of radiation-induced skin reactions (radiation dermatitis) during and after radiotherapy, and to support the appearance of new and existing scars. The product is hormone-free, steroid-free and does not contain animal-derived ingredients.
Safety: for external use only. Apply a thin layer to clean, dry skin once or twice daily, or as directed by your radiation oncology team. Allow to dry fully (four to five minutes) before covering or applying further products. Do not apply to open wounds, mucous membranes or the eyes.
